A look around World Art Dubai - in pictures

Now in its fifth year, World Art Dubai offers local and international art from over 150 galleries

Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre until April 6, hundreds of artworks by local and international artists are on display as part of the annual World Art Dubai.

Offering contemporary affordable art for the amateur collector, World Art Dubai was formed on a premise of making art more accessible. Over 3,000 artworks from artists hailing from over 30 countries are on display at the event and price tags starting from $100 (Dh367). Prominent artists in attendance include Marcin Rogal from Poland, multi-award winning artist August Vilella and Emirati calli-graffiti artist Dia’a Allam.

Expertly curated by Batool Jafri, Samar Kamel, Zaahirah Muthy and Petra Kaltenbach, the fair offers a unique fusion of art, education and entertainment. Calligraphy, digital art, paintings, drawings, photography and print making are all on show and highlights include Art Gap, an exhibition in response to the gender pay gap for artists, and Art for Every Wall where every piece listed retails at under $1000.

This year’s event also introduces the inaugural Emerging Artists Competition and Exhibitions where up-and-coming artists will be selected to display their works at Rove Hotels across Dubai.

The programme of events also includes a variety of sessions and talks with local experts speaking about topics like starting an art collection, taking better travel photos and the emerging art movement in the UAE.
