The 39th MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show will throw open its doors at Sharjah’s Expo Centre from October 6-10. A star attraction is likely to be what Guinness World Records has certified as ‘the world’s heaviest gold ring’. Weighing in at almost 59kg, the Najmat Taiba, or Star of Taiba ring, is studded with 5kg of Swarovski crystals and took fifty-five workers forty-five days to complete.
While the current day value of the precious metal piece is unknown, when it was made back in 2000, by Taiba Gold & Jewellery of Saudi Arabia, it was estimated to be worth Dh3,000,000.
The MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show will feature 500 exhibitors and brands across six halls at the Expo Centre in Sharjah. Admission to the public is free from 12 noon to 10pm daily, except on Fridays when the opening times will be from 4 pm to 10 pm. For more information click here.
