Tory Sport’s chic, retro activewear now available from Net-a-porter

Gone are the days when a good pair of trainers were the most sophisticated part of one’s gym “wardrobe”, or what was, in my case, a ragtag collection of baggy tees, faded trackpants and oft-mismatched socks. These days, activewear is all about flattering cuts, bright colours and absorbent fabrics – all this in styles that balance both fashion and functionality, a design brief that Tory Sport meets exceedingly well.

Tory Burch's performance activewear line is now available online at Net-a-porter. Taking inspiration from the high-energy prints and colourblock patterns of the 1970s, the 26-piece collection includes weightless jackets, slim-cut tees, cute tennis skirts, stretch-jersey leggings and water-resistant backpacks. The line is inspired by the retro sportswear seen on the Tenenbaums siblings in the 2001 Wes Andersonon movie The Royal Tenenbaums.

“The collection combines Tory’s chic aesthetic with performance-driven textiles, and includes key athletic staples for cross training as well as chic country-club tennis pieces that can transition from a match to lunch,” said Alison Loehnis, president of Net-a-porter and Mr Porter. Designer Tory Burch added: “The technology is paramount, from reflective features and surface treatments to breathability and moisture-wicking properties.”

The pieces from the Tory Sport collection are priced between Dh250 and Dh1,500.
