If this summer’s holiday involves travelling to London, then be sure to visit the brand new exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The showcase — titled Shoes: Pleasure and Pain — is a historical journey through our never ending obsession with shoes. Extending far beyond practicality, the exhibition examines our use of shoes as markers of social status — something that is as prevalent today as it was a thousand years ago.

Shoes: Pleasure and Pain is on display until January 31, 2016 at the Victoria and Albert Museum. For more information visit the museum's website.
