An Iftar banquet was arranged for about 50 cancer patients and their families in Sharjah by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) as part of the charity’s policy to provide comprehensive patient care. “Emotional wellbeing can have a real impact on a patient’s physical health and therefore a vital part of our work is to provide an opportunity for cancer patients to meet one another, share stories, and draw strength and inspiration from each other,” said Dr Sawsan Al Madhi, FoCP’s secretary general. The Ramadan function was held at Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana-Dubai. The charity provides financial support, access to treatment, support to families for transport costs and ensuring patients eat a healthy diet. The group has provided support to more than 1,300 cancer patients and their families across the UAE since its inception in 1999.
