One-of-a-kind Chanel exhibition presents make-up as art

Visitors to Harvey Nichols Dubai are being invited to discover Chanel's latest beauty products through a one-of-a-kind art exhibition.

Taking inspiration from some of the world’s most famous creatives, Chanel has developed pieces of art using emblematic colours from its nail polish collections. See Piet Mondrian’s trademark neoplasticism, Jackson Pollock’s famed drip paintings, and Victor Vasarely’s optical illusion art brought to life using shades from the fashion house’s Le Vernis de Chanel line. Meanwhile, an oversized installation in the centre of the store makes reference to Alexander Calder’s moving sculptures.

It’s a fun and intriguing way to highlight the breadth of options offered by the brand — and also likens make up to an artist’s palette, with the face or nails as a canvas that can be transformed by colour.

The pieces of art are interspersed by dedicated Chanel stations, where expert make-up artists are on hand to offer their services — and advice. These too are art inspired. There is a Select the Brushes station, where you can experiment with the tools needed to expertly apply your make-up; a Play with Colours station, where you can have your nails painted in a myriad shades; and a Master the Light station, which is all about playing with light on the skin, using skincare products, foundations, powders and other gems from the Chanel collection.

Head down to Harvey Nichols Dubai in Mall of the Emirates before April 30 to marvel at the artwork and treat yourself to a makeover. It'll be well worth the trip.
