London Fashion Week: punch and panache at Versus Versace

Donatella Versace’s protege Anthony Vaccarello knows the pulse of shoppers. As creative director of Versus, the 32-year-old Belgian-Italian unveiled his third collection for the Versace label in London this weekend — and his clothes were as dashing as they were wearable.

It was a strong showing, thanks mostly to the men’s looks that walked down the runway. Our favourite was a well-cut denim-on-denim ensemble that featured an inventive leafy print that looked like white paint splotches.

Other standouts include a floral blazer-and-shirt combo, worn with matching shorts. (Seems like Pharrell was on to something at last year’s Oscars.) Another handsome blazer had an abstract botanical print that looked like a luxe safari jacket.

A black jumpsuit, worn unzipped to reveal an easy, breezy vest, was another highlight. It had all the punch and panache Versace has been known for — and it fit the thumping bass played in the background by Irish four-piece The Strypes.
