International Woolmark Prize winners announced

Last night saw the announcement of the winners of the regional 2015/2016 Woolmark Prize for India, Pakistan and the Middle East.

Indian label Suketdhir was named the menswear winner, while Emirati designers Taller Marmo took home the title of the womenswear winner. Other nominees included Republic and Thamanyeh for the menswear category, and Akaaro, Bashar Assaf, Bleach, Mira Hayek, Misha Lakhani, Nachiket Barve, and Sania Maskatiya for the womenswear category.

The judging panel for the industry award comprised Louise Nichols, Editor-in-Chief of Harpers Bazaar Arabia; Alison Tay, Editor-in-Chief Grazia Middle East; Che Kurrien, Editor of GQ India; Osman Yousefzada Designer; Nez Gebreel, CEO of Dubai Design & Fashion Council; Bridget Cosgrave, Fashion & Buying Director of Boutique 1; and Melissa Grace of the Woolmark Company.

The Woolmark Prize seeks to support emerging labels with recognition, financial aid, and industry knowledge. Winners of the various regions will now go to New York where overall winners will be declared.
