There’s no mistaking how Ohood Al Roumi feels about her appointment as the UAE’s Minister of State for Happiness. The new cabinet appointee accessorised her black abaya and electric blue sheyla with a gold-tone necklace spelling out the word ‘Happy’ for the swearing-in ceremony in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

The brass piece, with lobster clasp and branded ball charm, is thought to be from a 2013 Lanvin collection. Other necklaces in the range included ‘You’, ‘Help’, ‘Cool’, ‘Hot’ and ‘Love’.

The statement-making accessory caused something of a sensation on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

“@almohetpressnet Happiness Minister “Happiness” necklace steals the show.” one person Tweeted.

“@GhadaSabt First Emirati Happiness minister in the world took the oath wearing a necklace with Happiness word pendant.” wrote another.

While Lanvin's 'Happy' necklace - also worn by celebrities including Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram - is discontinued, the maison's latest SS16 accessories can be viewed here.
