RAS AL KHAIMAH // A 50 per cent discount on historical traffic fines in RAK will apply from Tuesday until the end of the year, police said.

Maj Gen Ali Abdullah Al Nuaimi, chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, ordered the discount from November 1 to December 31 to mark the 45th UAE National Day.

Gen Al Nuaimi said the discount is for fines issued before December 31, 2014 and he urged all motorists to pay any fines owed as soon as possible, to avoid having their vehicles towed away.

RAK Police adopted a new fines system late last year whereby if you pay the fine within 50 days, it is discounted by 50 per cent. If the fine is paid between 51 and 80 days the discount is 30 per cent, but beyond 80 days there is no discount.

Gen Al Nuaimi asked all motorists to abide by traffic laws and to adhere to speed limits.
