RIYADH // Two people have been killed by flooding in south-western Saudi Arabia, state television reported on Thursday.
The pair died when three areas in the mountainous Jazan region were inundated by flood waters, Al Ekhbaria news channel reported on its Twitter feed.
Citing the civil defence agency, it said six other people were injured and 18 rescued in the region, which borders Yemen.
Heavy rains have struck Saudi Arabia this week, including the capital Riyadh where schools closed on Wednesday after floods caused traffic chaos during a severe storm.

Baked goods - Most cakes, cookies, pie crusts and crackers contain shortening, which is usually made from partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. Ready-made frosting is another source of trans fat.
Snacks - Potato, corn and tortilla chips often contain trans fat. And while popcorn can be a healthy snack, many types of packaged or microwave popcorn use trans fat to help cook or flavour the popcorn.
Fried food - Foods that require deep frying — french fries, doughnuts and fried chicken — can contain trans fat from the oil used in the cooking process.
