A grand jury has declined to indict an Ohio police officer who fatally shot an unarmed Emirati law student in December.
Hudson police officer Ryan Doran will not face criminal charges over the killing of Saif Nasser Mubarak Al Ameri, the state attorney general's office said on Thursday.
The UAE embassy in Washington said it was disappointed with the decision and was exploring "additional legal options" with Al Ameri's family.

Mr Doran shot and killed Al Ameri, 26, on December 4. Authorities say Mr Doran shot Al Ameri five times during a struggle after the Case Western Reserve University law student fled the scene of a crash.
The local medical examiner said the post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and that the death was a homicide.
The Ohio bureau of criminal investigation said Al Ameri had been driving a 2009 Toyota Camry erratically on the Ohio Turnpike in the city of Hudson before crashing his vehicle and fleeing into woods.
A team of officers from Abu Dhabi Police’s Criminal Investigation Department was sent to Ohio to help the US authorities investigate the circumstances of Al Ameri’s death.
Al Ameri's body was flown back to the UAE for burial at the Bani Yas cemetery on December 8.
