Two people were shot at a Toronto Raptors celebration parade on Monday as millions hit the streets to celebrate the Canadian team's first National Basketball Association title.

Shots were heard just before 4pm local time at Bay and Albert streets, near city hall and Nathan Phillips Square, where the victory parade was coming to a close.

Toronto police said the wounds were serious but not life-threatening.

Two suspects were arrested and two guns were recovered, they said.
