Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed met UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday.

Sheikh Abdullah and Mr Guterres discussed ways to enhance co-operation between the Emirates and the UN, and reviewed regional and international issues.

The meeting touched on the UAE's preparations for Expo 2020 Dubai and the World Government Summit-Expo, which will be held during the major global event.

Sheikh Abdullah also met ministerial counterparts Teodoro Ribera of Chile, Retno Marsudi of Indonesia, Dr Naledi Pandor of South Africa and Nikos Dendias of Greece.

The diplomats discussed investment, culture, economy, trade, education, tourism, renewable energy and technology.

Sheikh Abdullah and Mr Ribera signed an agreement between the governments of the UAE and Chile on customs co-operation.

The meetings were attended by Minister of State, Dr Sultan Al Jaber; Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Omar Al Olama and Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the UN in New York.
