Car bomb hits Damascus district near Russian embassy

No one was killed in the attack

An explosion hit Damascus on Thursday, the second such attack on the Syrian capital in less than a week, Syrian state media reported.

State-run Sana described the attack as a “terrorist bombing,” that struck the Al Adawi district. The Russian embassy is located nearby.

Sana said no casualties have been reported. It said an explosive-rigged vehicle was responsible for the blast, which caused "material damage."

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least four people have been wounded.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Thursday’s blast comes two days after a car bomb struck the coastal city of Latakia, another stronghold of Syrian President Bashar Assad. The explosion killed one person.

It also comes less than a week after Syrian state media reported a terrorist attack on the capital. It said that the blast did not cause any casualties.
