A helicopter carrying senior Kuwaiti military officials crashed in Bangladesh on Wednesday, said the Kuwait Defense Ministry. No deaths were reported and only one official sustained minor injuries.
The helicopter came down after heavy fog obstructed the pilot's vision causing the chopper to collide with the trees as it was descending to land, the ministry said in a press release.
The helicopter was carrying the army's chief of staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al Khuder, and his accompanying delegation crashed while landing in Silit Bangladesh, according to Kuwait's news agency.
The chief of staff said only minimal damage and moderate injuries were reported.
Rezaul Karim, a Bangladesh military spokesman, told The Associated Press that the helicopter made an emergency landing at Sreemongol in Moulvibazar district, about 160 kilometers northeast of the capital, Dhaka, and all its 16 passengers and crew were safe.
The Chief of Staff and his entourage left Kuwait on Monday morning for an official visit to Bangladesh.
