A delivery driver who crashed into a £1 million ($1.3m) row of parked supercars while street racing in one of London’s most exclusive areas is facing a jail sentence.
Ahmed Al Husseini, 25, admitted dangerous driving after losing control of his Audi in Knightsbridge in August last year.
Al Husseini was chasing a Porsche when he crashed into a string of luxury cars including a Bentley Bentayga, a McLaren and a Porsche Cayenne.
CCTV footage of the moment of collision was widely shared online.
It shows the Audi speeding down the 30mph (48kph) street before it hits a parked car, rebounding off several others, before flipping and coming to a standstill a short distance down the residential street.
The street was a scene of carnage and residents said it was a miracle no one was killed.
Al Husseini, who has since been banned from driving, was told he faces jail because of the crash, the Evening Standard reported.
Isleworth Crown Court heard that Al Husseini “almost shattered” his right knee when he crashed.
His lawyer told the court he planned to present medical records at sentencing to show the “medical difficulties” his client experienced.
Judge Lindsey Rose told Al Husseini he will probably face a jail term when the case resumes for sentencing on December 2.
“This is a very serious matter – custody is very likely in this case,” he said.
After the crash, residents said illegal street racing was a serious problem in the area.
A spokesman for Milner Street Area Residents said: “Not only is it a nuisance in terms of ear-piercing noise pollution during the day and throughout the night, but also the imminent threat of danger to life.
“Seeing the physical damage that was caused to property on Moore Street when Mr Al Husseini allegedly lost complete control of his vehicle while driving at excessive speed, it is a miracle that no one was killed.”
