The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) will begin collaborating with the anti-narcotics department at the Ministry of Interior to provide training for treating substance abuse.
Workshops will be held to teach staff the appropriate ways to handle people who need rehabilitation as a result of having abused drugs.
Last year's UN World Drug Report revealed 64 per cent of addicts in the UAE were hooked on prescription drugs. The initial meeting between the NRC and the anti-narcotics department took place last week.
