SHARJAH // Four men were killed after a maintenance cradle they were working on at Ansar Mall, in Sharjah collapsed early this morning. The accident happened when the four were putting up a sign for a new restaurant on the sixth floor. Col Wahed al Serkal, the director of Sharjah Civil Defence, said the accident happened at 3.30am today. Three men were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth man, who was taken to Kuwait Hospital in a critical condition, was treated in intensive care but this afternoon succumbed to his injuries. Hamid al Mansouri, the director of Ansar Mall, said the workers were employed by Al Reyami Signs and Advertising Establishment. He said the workers did not appear to be wearing safety harnesses at the time of the accident. He said he would co-operate with the police during their investigation. ykakande@thenational.ae
