DUBAI // A worker molested two women on a bus in Bur Dubai, then knelt and begged forgiveness from one of them, a court has heard.
Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court that on August 2, the Bangladeshi was at a bus stop about 7pm when he approached a Filipina.
“When the bus arrived and I was about to get on it, a man came closer to me trying to board the bus too,” said the woman, 37. “He touched my breast in the process, so I just looked at him and said nothing, thinking it was by mistake.”
But she said that on the bus he stood next to her and touched her breast again.
“I screamed at him so he went away,” she said. “Moments later I heard a woman screaming at someone, saying that he touched her behind.
“When I turned my head to look it was the same man, and he had knelt down and started asking that woman for forgiveness.”
The two women asked the driver to contact police and when the bus stopped, the driver asked him for his ID but he ran away before police came.
The defendant was arrested the same day and police said that he confessed to touching the women, but in court on Monday morning he denied a charges of sexual assault.
“It happened by mistake for one time only and one woman, not two,” he said in court.
A verdict is expected on November 28.
