Woman who hid cocaine in bra has ten-year sentence upheld

Woman who smuggled more than a kilogram of cocaine into the country in her bra has her ten-year jail term upheld.

DUBAI // A woman who tried to smuggle more than a kilogram of cocaine into the country in her bra had her ten-year jail sentence upheld by the Appeals Court yesterday.

PJ, 30, from Thailand, was arrested at the Dubai International Airport on April 9 this year when a policewoman became suspicious at the size of her bust.

“I asked her to take off her top but she refused. She gave in and I found the drugs in her bra,” recalled the policewoman.

The woman flew in from Brazil.

She admitted a charge of smuggling at her original trial at the Criminal Court last July.

The Appeals Court also upheld a Dh50,000 fine and a deportation order against her.
