DUBAI // A Canadian woman will spend three months in jail after being convicted of threatening to kill a man and defame him online.
In September, D T, 49, sent an email to K T, 45, a Pakistani, in which she threatened to ruin his reputation. She also made threats to kill the man in a voicemail left on his phone.
The man gave no details about the nature of his relationship with the woman or the reasons behind her threats.
At Dubai Criminal Court earlier this month, the Canadian confessed to making the threats but told judges that she was not being serious.
“Yes, it happened but I was only joking,” she said.
The woman will be deported after serving her jail term.
