DUBAI // An American sailor serving onboard a US aircraft carrier died on Friday during a port visit to Dubai.
The Pentagon named the man as petty officer first class Paris S Pough, a 40-year-old hull technician from Columbus, Georgia, who was assigned to the USS Carl Vinson. The boat's home port is in San Diego, California.
The US department of defence said on its website that the sailor had been supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
No further details of Mr Pough's death were available.
