UPDATE: Mercury hits 50.5°C in Al Ain
ABU DHABI // Temperatures are set to soar in the UAE over the next few days with levels nearing 50ºC in some parts of the country.
A high of 48.8ºC was registered in Sweihan near Al Ain on Monday, with the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology forecasting more of the same for Tuesday.
According to the centre, the hot weather will continue through to Thursday, with temperatures climbing as high as 47ºC and winds reaching up to 40kph at times in inland areas.
An increase in humidity is set to accompany the rise in temperatures leading to the likelihood of fog in the coastal areas at night and in the morning.
Drivers are advised to take extra caution as the weather could reduce visibility on the roads.
