ABU DHABI // Residents living along the coast can expect temperatures to reach a high of 39°C on Wednesday under sometimes hazy and partly cloudy skies.

Even toastier conditions are predicted for the interior, where the mercury will climb to 46°C. Anyone looking for a slight reprieve from the heat should head to the mountains, which will have the coolest climate today with a forecast high between 26° and 35°C.

Winds blowing between 20 and 34km/h throughout most of the country may cause blowing dust in open areas and rough up the sea at times. Increasing overnight humidity may lead to mist or fog development early Thursday morning, especially in the western part of the country.

Hamim, a small town straight south of Abu Dhabi, close to the border with Saudi Arabia, is home to the lowest temperature recorded today. The mercury there dipped to a low of 25.7°C at 5:30am.
