UAE weather: rain set to stay away after days of flooding

Winds will reach speeds of 45 km/h

The weather is expected to be cloudy across the UAE today without the heavy rain which has affected many parts of the country in the past few days.

It will be particularly cloudy in the northern and eastern regions. Humidity is expected to reach a peak of 85 per cent through the course of the day, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.

Temperatures will reach a high of 37°C.

Winds will reach a high of 45km/h in the mountain regions, blowing dust at times, while the sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea.

Areas of the Northern Emirates have been lashed by heavy rain in recent days, leading to road closures as water gushed down mountainous areas.

Forecasters had predicted a chance of thunderstorms, and while these failed to materialise, there were instances of hail.

Sharjah Police called on the public to stay away from valleys and dams to avoid being swept away by flash-floods and advised fishing trawlers not to leave port on Sunday due to the unstable conditions.
