The 14th Tan-Tan Moussem, an inter-tribal festival that brings together Saharan peoples, began over the weekend with significant Emirati participation.

The UAE has a pavilion at the event in Southern Morocco supervised by the Cultural Programmes and Heritage Festivals Committee — Abu Dhabi in co-operation with other UAE cultural institutions, Wam reported.

The pavilion celebrates the UAE through paintings representing a theme of national belonging, and the country's desert tents reflect vivid images of the rich civilisation, heritage and culture of the UAE.

The event, which celebrates a vibrant Bedouin culture, is recognised by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

This year is the fifth consecutive year the UAE’s has participated in the festival, with their offerings including a camel milking competition, which aims to promote the heritage activity.
