ABU DHABI // More than 20,000 sacrificial sheep were transported from Ethiopia to the UAE for the first day of Eid Al Adha.

A delegation of Emirates Red Crescent officers supervised the air transportation and slaughter of the livestock, reported Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National.

Meat weighing a total of 200,000 kilograms was then distributed to beneficiaries at the Red Crescent’s branches across the country.

Throughout the holiday, the delegation headed to the six slaughterhouses and personally supervised the selection of the sheep to make sure they were free of diseases.

The process was carried out in collaboration with the Ethiopian Meat Export Association and the Ministry of Animal Resources in Ethiopia.
