DUBAI // Public school pupils will start and finish their school days earlier in the summer term.
The Ministry of Education said that from May 1, classes for boys will begin at 7.15am, finishing at 12.50pm instead of 1.45pm for Cycle 1, and finishing at 1.35pm instead of 2.35pm for Cycles 2 and 3.
In girls’ schools, classes will begin at 8am, with the day ending at 1.35pm instead of 2.30pm for Cycle 1 and at 2.20pm instead of 3.20pm for cycles 2 and 3.
There will be eight classes throughout the day for both boys and girls, except for Thursdays where only 7 classes will be held, the ministry said on its Twitter feed.
All classes will be 40 minutes long, except the first class, which will be 45 minutes with five minutes dedicated to singing the national anthem.
