ATHENS, September 14th, 2013 /WAM/ -- Greece's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos, has hailed the relations between the UAE and Greece.
He thanked the UAE leadership, people and H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, for their permanent keenness on developing ties and encourage investment in all vital sectors between the two countries.
The remark was made when the Greek minister received the visiting UAE delegation to Athens in order to discuss ways of enhancing relations in all fields between the two countries, and to prepare for the 2nd meeting of the joint committee between both sides.
The UAE delegation included Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Khalid Ghanem Al Ghaith, UAE Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Abdul Hadi Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Greece and other officials.
In his remarks on the occasion, Dr. Sultan said, " We conveyed the greetings of our wise leadership to the government and people of Greece as well as our keenness to support the efforts aimed to restoring stability to the Greek economy, which recently underwent difficulties. "We are confident that the continuation of Greece in the European Union would create a positive atmosphere to attract investment in the context of the economic openness, which boosts investment and trade opportunities," he added. Dr Sultan also asserted the importance of the strategic partnership, citing the strong relations between the UAE and Greece in the economic, tourist, cultural and educational domains.
He referred to the last visit of Sheikh Abdullah to Greece, where the two sides agreed on speeding up holding 2nd meeting of the joint committee between the two countries so as to discuss enhancing of relations in all fields.
On the other hand, the UAE delegation held a series of preparatory meetings to discuss the agenda of the joint committee, which included a meeting with the Greek Foreign minister. The UAE side stressed its keenness on strengthening relations with the Republic of Greece.
The delegation also met with the Greek Minister for Development & Competitiveness Kostis Hatzidakis. The meeting focused on the bilateral relations and various aspects of cooperation, including civil aviation, health and tourism sectors.
