Maintaining good professional conduct is a religious obligation that involves honesty and hard work to finish tasks without stalling, worshippers will hear on Friday.
Awards in the afterlife have been promised to those who stick to good manners. A hadith by Prophet Mohammed says: “I guarantee a house...in the upper part of Paradise for a man who has good manners.”
“An employee should always tell the truth when communicating with others,” the sermon says.
The sermon cites another hadith that says: “Tell the truth when you talk, fulfill your promises and give what has been entrusted with you.”
“Individuals with a good work ethic are usually very productive people who work at a faster pace. They regularly accomplish more work,” the sermon continues.
Islam orders employees to establish justice at work, treating customers and his or her colleagues fairly and equally.
“It entails processing their transactions without discrimination, offering them equal, secure and motivating professional opportunities.”
And as Prophet Mohammed also said: “Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs.”
Kindness and flexibility at work are of equal importance, by facilitating matters and procedures.
“Facilitate things to people [concerning religious matters], and do not make it hard for them, and give them good tidings, and do not make them run away [from Islam],” said Prophet Mohammed.
“A good aspect of kindness is overlooking others’ flaws and pardoning their mistakes,” the sermon says.
“Repelling others’ misdeeds by means of good manners, nice words, wise action and patience, is one way to win their love and respect.”
