UAE flag a symbol of unity, says Sheikha Fatima

This year it will be celebrated early, on November 1, when people across the country will raise the flag at 11am

The UAE flag represents the country and its citizens, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak said in a speech ahead of Flag Day.

Flag Day is celebrated on November 3, the anniversary of the 2004 accession of President Sheikh Khalifa.

This year it will be celebrated early, on November 1, when people across the country will raise the flag at 11am.

Rising the flag is an expression of appreciation, said Sheikha Fatima, who is the chair of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

She called on Emiratis to protect the flag because it symbolises sovereignty and unity.

Flag Day has been celebrated since 2013.
