ABU DHABI // The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, ADFD, finished work on a Dh33 million social housing project in Seychelles last week.
Located on the largest island of the Republic of Seychelles, Mahé, the project comprises housing and infrastructure – including electricity grids, water and sanitation networks, roads and parks.
ADFD managed the construction of 106 units across three residential areas on behalf of the UAE Government.
ADFD has worked with the government of Seychelles since 1979 providing loans and administered government grants totalling Dh215m for 10 projects.
Adel Al Hosani, director of operations department, ADFD, said: “The UAE will continue to support the government of Seychelles in implementing infrastructure projects and economic reforms to improve the living standards of its citizens.”
Seychelles was among the first nations to receive financial assistance from the fund.
“ADFD has undertaken several major development projects that serve key sectors, while contributing to the sustainable development of the country,” said Mr Al Hosani.
Another project in the works is the Dh103m wind power station project in Seychelles which aims to support the renewable energy sector in the country.
