ABU DHABI // The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre has launched a programme offering anyone in the UAE an opportunity to be part of the nation’s space research.
The Research Grant Programme is taking suggestions for topics related to space science or Mars from the UAE community and funding the proposals they think are the most scientifically viable.
Created to promote space science research and encourage the next generation of Emirati scientists, the programme will focus on two main areas.
The grant for Martian atmosphere science will concentrate on research toward developing the method of analysis of data for UAE’s mission to Mars, as well as the analysis of information obtained from it, while the space science grant will emphasise on studies on related to space science in general.
“The UAE is moving forward into a vital new phase of development, which requires setting up the right environment, not only through launching ambitious scientific, technological and economic projects, but also through fostering the culture of scientific research and innovation,” said Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, director general of MBRSC.
Those interested can send email their suggested research to science@mbrsc.ae with the centre announcing the chosen research topic at the beginning of 2017.
Authors of the chosen proposals will be given a year to two years to test and interpret their hypothesis.
