DUBAI // Twenty thousand food baskets are being prepared for distribution this week to Egyptian families in need, as part of a UAE charitable initiative.
The Al Maktoum Foundation is beginning a charitable project in a number of governorates in Upper Egypt, following the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.
Mirza Al Sayegh, vice chairman of the board of trustees at the foundation, said the first phase of the distribution of the food parcels will be launched in Sohag and Assiut.
The move follows the signing of an agreement last year between the Al Maktoum Foundation and the Ministry of Local Development in Egypt, to implement a development project for poor families in the country.
