The Emirati Charity Works Authority office in the West Bank has offered US$200,000 to help the more than 1,000 orphans it sponsors in Jenin province.
Ibrahim Rashid, director of the human appeal office in the West Bank, said that the amount was part of the programme to sponsor as many as 20,000 orphans in Palestine.
Mr Rashid said the charity was keen to take care of orphans year after year, although this project coincides with the holy month of Ramadan.
Ibrahim Ramadan, the governor of Jenin, thanked the UAE and its charities for their humanitarian efforts for the Palestinian people.
He thanked the authority for the work it did year-round, with projects in various Palestinian districts.
The Zakat Central Committee in Jenin praised the support of UAE charities, particularly Emirates Red Crescent. It said the Emirati Charity Works Authority plays a significant role in helping people in the Palestinian territories, particularly Jenin.
