Two people were killed and 23 injured on Dubai roads in the past week.

DUBAI // Two people were killed and 23 injured on the emirate's roads in nine accidents during the past week.

The majority of the accidents occurred on Sheikh Zayed Road, police said.

The two deaths happened last Wednesday. One person died at about 8pm when their car hit a metal barrier on Sheikh Zayed Road in an accident that also injured six people, one of them seriously. The other death occurred when a pedestrian was hit by a car on an inner road in Dubai Investment Park.

On the same day, at about 12pm, five people were injured when two cars travelling at high speed crashed on the Dubai-Hatta road. The injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

Four people were injured, two of them seriously, on Sheikh Zayed Road at about 3am on Sunday morning when a four by four broke through the metal barrier and collided with a car driving in the opposite direction.

One person was seriously injured when a bicycle collided with a car on an inner road in Dubai Silicon Oasis, on Saturday evening, at about 8pm.

Two people were injured when a motorcycle overturned as it headed towards Sharjah on Sheikh Zayed Road at about 1am on Saturday.

Three people were injured when a speeding car jumped a red light on Marina Road at about 1pm on Friday and crashed into another car.

On the same day, at about 9.30pm, a pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a car as he crossed Al Ittihad Road. An hour later, two cars collided in Al Mizher, injuring a woman.
