ABU DHABI // Two unlicensed plastic surgeons will each spend three years in jail for endangering the lives of the women they operated on.
An Emirati woman filed a report claiming she suffered bruises and illness after she underwent plastic surgery by the two defendants. She had a nose job that cost Dh14,000 using injections and “mysterious” substances, she claimed.
Upon receiving the reports, public prosecution had a woman pose as a customer and as they were about to inject her, police arrested the pair for practicing without a licence.
The victim who filed the report appeared in court and explained what happened to her after the procedure.
“Six months later, I started to suffer symptoms of illness like redness in the injected area and body fever,” she told the misdemeanour court.
“After visiting many hospitals I was informed that I am suffering an incurable disease, and the injected substance already spread in my body.”
The two women confessed to injecting the woman’s nose, but denied using more than one injection.
“We only used one 400ml injection, and we received for that Dh7,000 in exchange.”
The court convicted them of endangering other people’s lives and practicing medicine without a licence.
They were also issued a fine and sentenced to deportation following the three year sentence.
