DUBAI // Two men were found guilty of human trafficking and running a brothel where a woman jumped to her death.

The Bangladeshis, 44 and 40, were jailed for 10 years and three years respectively.

They were also convicted of locking up a woman and attempting to force her into prostitution. She jumped from the third floor flat in the Naif area of Deira.

A forensics report said the victim, who was in her late 40s and remains unidentified, suffered multiple fractures and internal bleeding in the fall.

Prosecutors said that on July 13, 2015, a Pakistani man, 38, saw the victim crying next to a supermarket and looking for a place to stay. They said he lured her into his flat which he and the two Bangladeshis ran as a brothel.

“The Pakistani introduced her to three women in the flat who worked as prostitutes, then left,” said a police captain, 40.

“He said the building’s security guard called him shortly after and told him that the woman had jumped from the window.”

The officer said that the man was arrested after fleeing to Oman.

But he was acquitted on charges of running a brothel, human trafficking and locking up the victim. He was referred to the misdemeanours court for having consensual sex with another woman working in prostitution.

The two Bangladeshi men will be deported after completing their sentences.
