DUBAI // A girl died and eight others were injured in two separate traffic accidents on Friday and Saturday.

The first accident — involving two cars — took place in Barsha and led to the death of a girl, with six others suffering moderate to severe injuries.

A rescue team cut free passengers stuck inside one of the cars. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the police forensics department.

A second accident occurred in Al Quoz Industrial after a car swerved off the First Gulf Street and crashed into a street light.

A man and woman were injured in the accident, with the woman also having to be cut free of the vehicle by rescue teams. She was treated in hospital for moderate injuries.

Meanwhile, a man drowned while swimming with friends late in the evening in Khor Al Mimzar. His body was found at the bottom of the creek.
