DUBAI // An Arabic-language tutor who told a girl, 11, that she would fail unless she let him touch her will serve one year in prison, after appealing against a sentence of three years.
On February 22, the girl’s mother walked into her living room of her home in Al Riffa and saw the tutor, 43, touching her daughter’s chest.
Her daughter had been receiving private lessons for two months before the incident happened.
The mother said that she went to check on them when she stopped hearing their voices.
The teacher claimed the girl had been seducing him by making certain moves, after which he said she asked him to touch her.
“I didn’t lift her shirt up and I didn’t threaten her,” said the teacher.
The girl, whose nationality was not given, pushed the Pakistani away when he first touched her.
“He then told me he would fail me in the subject if I didn’t let him, so I let him do so for about 10 minutes,” she said.
No reason was given for the reduction in sentence and the Pakistani will be deported after serving it.
