UAE traffic: Heavy traffic in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah

Major roads across the UAE witnessed some backlog on Sunday

Abu Dhabi and Sharjah experienced the most traffic on Sunday morning with major roads experiencing some backlog.

In the capital, motorists travelling on the Abu Dhabi - Shahama (E10) Road from the Sheikh Zayed Tunnel to just beyond Sheikh Zayed Bridge experienced delays of up to 40 minutes, though it was unclear what had caused the bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Salam Street was also congested in both directions, as well as Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street - from Sas Al Nakheel Village to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque - and the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road around Al Maqta Bridge.

Roads were busy on the Abu Dhabi-Sweihan-Al Hayer Road in both directions around Sweihan, as well as the Emirates Roads along the Sharjah-Dubai border.
In Sharjah, a number of roads were heavily clogged inbound to Dubai, including Al Ittihad Road from the Industrial Area 7 to Dubai International Airportm and the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from Al Tarfa all the way to the Mirdif City Centre in Dubai.
An accident also caused some backlog on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai, close to Dubai Investment Park – 1.
