ABU DHABI // Heavy traffic has been reported on Sheikh Zayed Street on Tuesday morning, causing congestion for commuters from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Department of Transport tweeted this morning: “At 7.33, accident on Sheikh Zayed after the second underpass inbound. Heavy traffic delays occurring.”
Lt Col Jamal Al Ameri, head of public relations at Abu Dhabi Police’s traffic and patrols directorate, said a four-car collision on Sheikh Zayed Street had caused the long tailbacks. No injuries were reported, he said.
Motorists also faced delays after Hameem Bridge, on Tarif-Abu Dhabi motorway, Abu Dhabi Police said in its official Twitter account, though it did not specify what had caused the congestion.
A motorist reported an incident involving a tanker that had overturned at the Mussaffah Industrial area in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday morning although police are yet to confirm the accident.
Dubai Police took to Twitter at 8am to report a traffic accident on Abu Hail Road from Al Hamriyah Market intersection to the Dubai Police headquarters intersection towards the Sharjah exit.
On Monday night, a two-car crash on Sheikh Zayed Road caused traffic congestion towards Abu Dhabi, police tweeted at 10pm.
