Motorists faced delays on Sunday on the usual major arteries heading from Sharjah into Dubai.
The E311 was heavy going from before the National Paints roundabout all the way down to Dubai International Airport.
It was also busy on the E11 from Ansar Mall until the Al Qiyadah metro stop.
This week sees the introduction of a pay or pump your own petrol system from Adnoc. Motorists in Abu Dhabi can pay Dh10 to have an attendant fill you car or else you can fill your own free of charge.
But in some good news, petrol prices have fallen for the month.
In Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, traffic was slowly starting to build on Salam Street heading out of the city.
