DUBAI // Accidents were reported in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah on Monday morning, causing tailbacks and congestion on main roads.
An accident on Sheikh Zayed Street near the exit towards Mussaffah resulted in a build-up of traffic despite police clearing the vehicles, Abu Dhabi’s Municipal Affairs and Transport department said.
In Dubai, despite many schools being closed for half term, patches of heavy congestion persisted.
Accidents were reported near Mirdif on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and on Emirates Road near Al Aweer.
Another on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road before National Paints towards Dubai caused delays, according to @TrafficDXB.
And traffic was at a standstill on Maliha Road to Emirates Road because of accidents.
Accidents were also reported on Sharjah-Kalba Road, causing further delay for commuters.
Heavy traffic was reported in Dubai near Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investment Park and International City.
In Abu Dhabi, motorists were faced with congestion near the Petroleum Institute and on Abu Dhabi-Sweihan Road towards Al Hayer.
