DUBAI // Two people were killed and 19 injured in separate road accidents this past week, said Dubai Police.

Col Saif Al Mazrouei, the director of the General Department of Traffic, said an Asian man was killed and another seriously injured when they were run over on Friday.

“The two men were run over at about 2.30am before the Business Bay Bridge,” he said. They were hit by a BMW, said Col Mazrouei.

In another incident, an Emirati man riding a motorcycle was killed while driving recklessly through the Trade Centre underpass travelling towards Abu Dhabi.

“The man drove on the hard shoulder, lost his balance and fell, which led to his death,” said Col Mazrouei.

He said that 19 people sustained moderate to serious injuries in separate accidents, and said they were all taken to hospital for treatment.

Col Mazrouei urged motorists to be cautious and abide by traffic laws.
