DUBAI // Two lanes of Shindagha tunnel will be closed for maintenance work this weekend.
The Roads and Transport Authority said the Deira-bound side of the tunnel will be closed from midnight on Friday morning, June 28 till 5am on Sunday, June 30.
Traffic will be diverted to the other side of the tunnel which will have a single lane going in each direction.
The maintenance processes is vital, the RTA said, as traffic facilities require continual upgrading to ensure the smooth flow of growing traffic volumes.
Phase two of the tunnel maintenance will take place the following weekend on the Bur Dubai-bound side of the tunnel. It will be closed at midnight on Friday, July 5, and reopened by 5am on Sunday July 7.
