Sydney-bound Qantas flight turns back to Dubai

A plane bound for Australia that left Dubai on Wednesday morning had to turn back an hour and a half after take-off

A Sydney-bound airplane that left Dubai International Airport on Wednesday morning had to turn back shortly after take-off.

Flight tracking website FlightAware showed Qantas flight QF2 taking off from Dubai at 10.21am only to land back an hour and 28 minutes later.

The A380 could be seen circling off the coast of Dubai several times on the tracking website before landing again. Flightradar24 also showed it landed safely and was sitting on the tarmac.
A Qantas spokesman said the flight experienced an issue with the air conditioning system shortly after take-off.

"The aircraft returned safely to Dubai Airport and our engineers are looking into it," he said. "As the crew reached their maximum duty limits, customers have been provided with overnight accommodation and the flight has been rescheduled to depart at 11am tomorrow."
