Traffic heading into Abu Dhabi ground to a halt on Thursday due to an accident near Sheikh Zayed Bridge.
Vehicles were bumper to bumper for about a kilometre before the bridge, the main crossing onto the island.
Emergency services vehicles were at the scene at about 8.30am. One vehicle was seen badly smashed up at the side of the road.
The accident was cleared by 8.50pm.
Elsewhere, traffic was typically heavy in Al Ittihad Road and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, two of the main arteries between Dubai and Sharjah.
