The speed limit on the Al Mafraq-Al Ghuweifat highway has been reduced to 121kph in an effort to curb road accidents, the traffic and patrol directorate at Abu Dhabi Police has announced.
The department said new road signs will also be installed at different points along the Al Mafraq-Al Ghuweifat road to alert drivers. Radars along the road will detect motorists travelling at speeds higher than the new limit.
The highway is 327km long and runs from Al Mafraq area to the border with Saudi Arabia in Al Ghuweifat, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.
